Est. July 1996
My web site has gone through many changes. wadlo.com is only the last place my "homepage" has moved to. In fact, the name of my web site was not always "Wadlo's Web Site." After the first two weeks when I was grasping the idea of HTML and calling my homepage "QZZX," my page was called "HIYA." I had a page called "HIYA" that I started mid-96 at a service called "Angelfire." The reason for such an odd name was an inside joke having do with with my telephone number. HIYA at Angelfire started to take too long to load every page, so slow that sometimes I couldn't even get it to load. If you ask me, they brought in too many "Homeless" people without upgrading. So I moved on, to a place called "Infochase," renaming my website to "HIYA2!" Infochase was made up of a former Angelfire employee who decided to quit and bring as many of his former customers to his new server using the promise that he had the same web based editors that made Angelfire famous, and was willing to make the new service even better. He went on to promise that Infochase "Would be there forever" and that it "Would always be free", well, as of March 1st, Infochase asked me to start paying or I would lose my page. Does that sound like its "Free" and there "Forever?" Not really. Then I was homeless on the web between March 10th through May 21st, 1997 when I moved in at "GeoCities." They looked like a pretty good service. I settled in very well and the web site grew greatly during this time. The "HIYA2! Award of excellence" came about during this time. There were 81 recipients before it was discontinued in 2000. Win Soop, a section dedicated to "Sooping" up your Windows 95 desktop, also came about during this time. It was greatly downsized in 2001 when the most of the Windows users were more interested in Sooping up their 2K, ME, or XP desktops (as well as a great increase in Mac OS and Linux users). A year after I moved to "Geocities" I realized that they had been advertising their sponsors on my page without my actual permission. They figured that if they gave me more megabytes to work with it would be ok. No deal. The speed of surfing slowed down due to the ads as well as lack of upgrading the GeoCities.com server to meet the demands of new homepage seekers. Here is a actual screenshot of what I had to put up with. I left GeoCities on bad terms, and moved to using the web site space my ISP (Earthlink) provides. When it moved to Earthlink, my web site changed its name, for the first time in years, to its current name (Wadlo's Web Site). Earthlink gave me space for a web site, without any banners, ads or watermarks, and whenever I needed help with anything I could e-mail them and they loved answering my questions. Almost three years later, Wadlo's Web Site had become so complex and dynamic that the once reasonable five megabytes had become a restriction to the creative nature of the site itself. The Internet address of the web site was rather long as well. Both of these problems were solved when Wadlo's Web Site moved to mrwadlo.com on July 1st, 2001. Wadlo's web site has been doing very well at its own domain; its complexity and popularity is growing faster than ever. On march 5th, 2007, I purchased wadlo.com, a domain that had been squatted for several years. Since wadlo.com is shorter, I refer to it more often. In early to mid 2007, I began a giant upgrade process of Wadlo's Web Site, creating a new design, a new site structure, and improving and updating many sections of the site. This history will be updated as the web site changes.
