The ARTI Project is an attempt to make an interactive computer program that is able to communicate and learn by doing so. ARTI has been running on a Compaq Presario 9642 under a Linux Mandrake environment since July 2000. Anyone who enters the IRC channel that ARTI resides in can talk to him and take part in the project's development.

The acronym "ARTI" stands for several things:

• ARTIficial Intelligence
• Artificial Retro-Tacticianing Intellectual
• Anti-Redundant Talking Interface
• Artificial Reading/Teaching Intelligence
