I won your award and now I can't find where it says I won your award. What's that?
Wadlo
I cannot finsite in the winners database, could you please tell me around what date I awarded you with the award. Thank you.
-Adam
Where's the award page? Ill point it out.
Wadlo
The awards page is located at
[**(Link to "how to win award" page)]
If you have won my award, you would have gotten an e-mail from me telling you that you won and the instructions on how to receive your award.
-Adam
I got that e-mail Adam.
Give me the URL for the page that lists the people that have won your award and I will find my name and URL on that list, on your page.
Wadlo
I cannot find your site in the winners database, I started keeping track of winners only a few months ago. But I just visited your site and went to the awards page. You have won my award, this award was given to you some time ago from my old site,
[**(Adams old URL)]
So I am going to give you the URL to update the award that I have given to before and I will add you to my winners database.
URL to update: [**("How to post award" page)]
-Adam
Ok, its online, now where is this winners database?
Wadlo
It is stored on my computer, there is no reason for you to see it.
-Adam
Web site awards are a two way street Adam.
Maybe you would like to rethink that statement?
Wadlo
Two way street eh, what do you mean by that. I was just simply stating that the awards database is confidential and there is no reason for you to see it.
-Adam
And why is your database not posted? There's nothing to hide. And its a two way street because I post your award and the link and you post me as an award winner. Everyone knows that.
Wadlo
That is not a standard practice in the Awards business. It is up to me to disclose winner information, I do not have to make that information public. The person receiving the award should be happy to actually get the award, they should not want more than what the award giver gives. The award giver does not need to link to that persons site just as you don't have to link to mine. It is quite pointless I think to have a public winners database because nobody goes through the database and visits all of the sites in that database. Having a public database is just a waste of webspace.
-Adam
No that's [*(Fooey...)]. How can people check to see if I'm actually a winner if my name and link is not on your site Adam?
Wadlo
If people really want to check, they can e-mail me and I can tell them. There is an unspoken honor code that you don't display an award that you did not win.
-ADAM
What's an award worth when its not backed by anything?
Wadlo
What do you mean what's it worth??? An award is given to show you and others that your site deserves it- that your site was constructed well, that's what an award is for. It is not there to make your site more popular.
-Adam
Why would it be posted then? And whatever you answer that with, consider what you say to work the same for posting award winners on your site. Now. Why don't I just make a database of award I have won?
Wadlo
Well you post your award on your site because you want your visitors to see that your work is up to standards of other sites, the sites that issued you the awards. In other words you are putting that there to show that your webpage is a piece of [*Crud]. I am proud of the sites that I give my award to but I am not so proud that I am going to put links to their site all over my site, I have not come across a site that would make me want to do that, not even my site. I keep track of the winners of my award for my viewing purposes, not for others. If you want a link to your site on my site, go to the links page at my site, [**(Adams link trader page)] and I will be more than glad to put your site on my page or reciprocal linking, awards are not meant to do that, they are meant to show that your site is worth receiving the award.
-Adam
Ok let me go down the line with my comments...
>ANH Awards Department wrote:

which means "our site says your site is an ok site" and what exactly do
standards have to do with other sites when mine is being rated?
> the sites that issued you the awards.
Yeah.
> In other words you are putting
> that there to show that your webpage is a piece of [*Crud].
I am assuming that you meant "isn't" instead of is. and if you did mean
"is", let me know and I will [*Discourage such an action].
> I am proud of the sites that I give my award to
Then show that!
> but
But nothing.
> I am not so proud that
> I am going to put links to their site all over my site,
Did I say you had to do this? No. I said that you could have a page
dedicated to the people that you say your proud of.
> I have not come across a site that would make me want to do that,
maybe you should get off your high horse.
> not even my
> site. I keep track of the winners of my award for my viewing

Your viewing purposes? Do you personally enjoy seeing that? Is there
something that you are so proud that you can't let everyone else know
about?
> not for others.
why exactly?
> If you want a link to your site on my site,
> go to the links page at my site,
> [**(Adams link trader page)] and I will be more than glad to

I'm not asking for "a link to your site on my site" (vise versa). I want recognition that I won your award so that people can see. I won your award. And I don't want everyone that sees... I won your award... to have to e-mail you and ask you to check some database that you refuse to put online to see if I won the award.
> awards are not
> meant to do that, they are meant to show that your site is worth
> receiving the award.
Which is to say that either way my site is inferior to your site? Is that
correct paraphrasing or not?
Wadlo
OK, now the 'is' is supposed to be isn't, I am sorry for that-that was an honest typo. Now for the rest I do not think that my site is better than everyone else's, in my opinion, I think that my site sucks. Now the standards that are set for almost all awards that are given out is-that lots of time and hard work is shown-dedication-and so on and so on. Now once again, it is up to me whether to put a winners list on my site or not and I am going to chose not to and I am tired of explaining myself to you, it is pointless, if you keep nagging me about this I will publicly denounce you throughout my site and in an e-mail to all of the winners that have received my awards in the past.
-Adam
Fine this conversation is over then.
